Soy Lolita was created as my undergraduate honors thesis project at UNLV. The project consists of a children's book, a board game, and supporting materials. The goal was to create a quality bilingual product that contributes to the representation of Latino subcultures. The research and process behind my thesis can be seen in the Soy Lolita research poster.
The Board Game
The board game portion of the project is meant to teach color in both Spanish and English. The player presses the Lolita shaped button, and Lolita announces a color in both languages (i.e. yellow, amarillo). The player then moves to the corresponding color on the path. The first player to make it to the end of the path is the winner.
The Book
The book Soy Lolita follows a cat's adventure through Latin America. She visits Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, and more. She goes to the airport, eats delicious food, enjoys nature, and finally returns home to her mom. The book was created for pre-school and kindergarten aged kids and presents Spanish and English equally.
